# Structural and sentence-level revision

Treat revision as reconsidering purpose, focus, organization and evidence rather than only correcting sentences.

 Method · Writing and publishing

## Core concepts
Whole draft: check the central content against readers and purpose
Structure: check whether order and evidence support the main point
Sentences: examine precision and unnecessary wording after structure is settled

## Application
Keep the original and revised drafts separate and record reasons for changes. Applying the idea to scene function and reader understanding in fiction is an editorial extension.

## Limitations and jurisdiction
The source is university writing guidance, not a universal standard of fictional aesthetics or translation fidelity. Adjust review order to genre and editorial policy.

## Editorial perspectives
Structure first: examine changes to purpose and organization.
Expression first: refine wording where structure is already settled.
